In Catania, I love Via Crociferi, a Baroque area where noble families once lived, and showed off their wealth and power by competing to build the most magnificent convents and churches – often to show support for their daughters or second sons destined to become nuns, priests, or bishops.
It is incredibly beautiful at night with the faded lights, which emphasize the honey color of the buildings made with local stone.

In daytime some Sicilian weddings take place here; when everybody takes off and the church is closed, the bride can secretly come back and sit on the steps of the church to take the official pictures of the wedding with nobody else around but the photographer.
